What was promised to be clear images of the interstellar object 3I/ATLAS turned into disappointment when NASA’s MAVEN spacecraft—which had been orbiting Mars flawlessly for over 10 years—suddenly malfunctioned just as 3I/ATLAS passed by. According to NASA, the malfunction prevented them from capturing or releasing clear images of 3I/ATLAS, adding even more frustration amid widespread speculation about whether it’s a UFO or simply a comet.
